I bought a new lens for my camera this weekend, isn't it great?! We went for a walk to test it out, but it was SO bright that ALL the pictures I took of Derek & Lucas are overexposed. As in my baby was virtually invisible. I'm sure it's a novice mistake of some setting I did or didn't have, but hopefully I can learn my lesson so it doesn't happen again.

Bath time!
Lucas had his first 'big boy bath' tonight before bedtime. Up until now we used his baby bathtub because it was quicker, easier to contain him, and...did I mention quicker? But I decided it was about time to let the boy splash around and have a little more fun. He did great and loved it, even tried to swim around on his belly. The bath came to abrupt stop when Lucas decided to commemorate this major milestone with a major poop. Gross.
| I'm sure I'll get in big trouble for taking this pic and putting it on here....in about 15 years. |

Expect More Pay Less
Actually I expected less and paid more but whatever. Lucas and I cruised the aisles of our fave one stop shop bright and early today. I love going at 8:00am on weekends and seeing the 5 other people with babies who have been up for 2 hours getting their shopping done before naptime hits. Lucas had many not so secret admirers tell him how cute he was as we went up and down every aisle.
One in particular was a girl about 3 years old and said "Mama! Baby! Look at the cute baby! Isn't he so cute?!" I smiled and strolled on past and I went just slow enough to catch her say quietly "I think I'm in love with him." To which her kind hearted mother replied "JULIA. We do NOT say things like that," and slapped her on the wrist.
Hmm. I wasn't sure why it deserved such a harsh response. To each their own I suppose. As for me and Lucas? We didn't care because we were high fiving that we scored a Swiffer Wet Jet, loads of baby food (that a Target employee had to chase after me to give because I left it at the counter and luckily it takes me 10 minutes to unload my stuff, put the cart away and buckle up Lucas so he caught me just in time), a bathmat so Lukey can start taking his big boy baths without me having a heart attack and locks for all the 'within Lucas' reach cabinets,' again, easing the liklihood of a mom heart attack. I may be rapture ready but not heart attack ready.

Ready, Set....
WALK!
Sorry, no video yet. But Lucas is now up to 5 or 6 drunken, wobbley steps! So funny to watch! I'm told that within a few weeks he will be a pro....I'm not sure I'm ready for this!
Derek and Lucas went all out for my first Mother's Day. (Turns out the reminders worked!) They made me breakfast, we all went to church and then they took me out to lunch at The Melting Pot downtown. We've been wanting to go there for at least the past year (maybe longer?!) so it was fun to finally go. Although I think if we go again, Lucas may need to hang with May May or Kelsey again. He's become quite the squirmy, screamer which doesn't mesh too well with a table with a stove & 4 fondue skewers on it.
All in all, it was a great day. I felt very loved and lucky to have two wonderful boys in my life!
And, for your viewing pleasure, this is the sky that's hanging over us as we speak. I went out for a run and the sirens went off. Derek told me when I got home "the sirens went off here." I'm not sure how far he thought I ran....

Dave & Busters
We ventured to Dave & Busters on Sunday. I think it's because I said after a whole day of laying inside on a gloomy Saturday "let's try and DO something tomorrow. Something FUN." So we went to D&B. Lucas was a champ except for when we made him try a pretzel bite and saw the ever so familiar routine of "gag, gag, puke." Oh well.
He also was very vocal and I happened to catch these awesome faces as he squealed at everyone around us. And yes he's wearing a jean jacket that says baseball. Derek makes fun of it, but no one can pull off a jean jacket better than Lucas.
Some man won two giant frogs in a claw game and gave us one as we walked past. We played a little skeeball and bball and called it a night. (if you can 'call it a night' at 4:30 on a Sunday.)
PS, I forgot to say Derek took Lucas to the dr for the first time last week for his 9 month checkup. All is well and we don't go back until he turns the big O-N-E in July!
Also, if you see Derek, please remind him it's mother's day this week. :)
