Lucas and I have been party animals while Derek's been gone. I've been letting him stay up "late" (8:30-9) in order to prep him for the west coast time zone on Wednesday. He loves staying up late and actually seems to get pretty wild (until he completely crashes) but the whole point of trying this was for him to start to sleep in a little later so this poor mama isn't waking up at 4:00 AM PDT. No such luck. 6:00 am yesterday, 6:00 am today, and I'm predicting 6:00 tomorrow. Oh well, it was worth a shot.
Today we went to 'Kidstock' at Arbor Lakes with the cousins. Lucas and I agreed on the drive home that we thought it was lame. Mainly because he couldn't get his face painted, make a craft project, or get crazy fair hair. Or maybe he could have and he just has a lazy mom who didn't want to deal with the clean-up. Either way, we weren't there long. (although he did dance to the Chicken Dance - trying to get him ready for Kelly's wedding. I'm SURE she'll have the chicken dance played...right Kell?)
We ran a few errands tonight before dinner and Lucas was on a roll getting complimented. The DSW girl couldn't get enough of him, a girl in the parking lot stopped me to say how cute he was, the Old Navy checkout girl said he has 'mezmorizing' eyes, and a Babies R Us employee stopped to baby talk with him for a bit. Now the fact that he loves looking in the mirror and watching videos of himself all makes so much more sense to me. Meanwhile, I was getting jealous of being overlooked and feeling a little down on myself that I don't have mezmorizing eyes. That is UNTIL we went to the drive thru of Taco Bell and the girl at the window told me "oh my gosh, you look like that one singer! you know....lalalalala (not singing a song, literally just saying lalalala).......... OH. I know. Jessica Simpson!"
If I had a dollar for every time I've heard that.....I'd probably have about $3. Give or take 2.
I have about 17 videos on my camera that I've been too lazy to upload. They range in timing from 1st steps (9 months old - May) to running and screaming with his tongue hanging out (on the brink of 11 months old - today. I told you we've been getting wild). My goal was to do it last night but instead Megan came over and we edited some sr pics we took for my cousin. Then the plan was to do it tonight but for some reason I decided a thorough cleaning of our apartment was more important. I've been inspired since I bought my Dyson on Wednesday (I won $100 at work and decided to splurge on something FUN. :) So....5 loads of laundry, all furniture vacuumed, 1 rearranged baby room, and a clean fridge later, I can tell you they'll be coming sooooon.
