Big Boy Bed
...the first night was a SUCCESS. Lucas fell asleep looking at books in his big boy bed after about 30 minutes. We spied on him on the video monitor and he was very well behaved. I ti toed in to cover him up and he woke up a little bit but went right back to sleep hugging Mickey Mouse tightly. He even stayed in bed til almost 8:30 today!
His first big boy bed nap was ok....a little more trouble but he was reminded that if he makes it the whole weekend of sleeping in his bed, he earns a trip to his fave place in the world...."the doughnut store." He fell asleep after 30 or 40 minutes again. I snuck in to turn off his little lamp and he was in a very uncomfortable position but hey, as long as he's sleeping, right? He slept his normal nap time and woke up a little cranky (see below) but recovered pretty quickly. He also slept on a car which is why his one cheek is so red in all the other pics...

Roman gave this little pumpkin to Lucas so I wanted to get a pic of it before it rotted. The photoshoot was short lived though due to "too cold!" (for the record, it was not THAT cold and we were out there for about 45 seconds hence why there is TWO pictures to show for it. The second picture is when he is telling me it's "too cold, mama!")

Bye Crib
GOODBYE CRIB! As you can see Lucas has outgrown his crib so on Thursday we had a final farewell sleep in it. Derek & I took it down on Friday and Lucas had his maiden voyage/sleep in his big boy bed that until Friday night was just a trampoline to him.

FUN run
This is a story about a $5 1K "FUN run"
I pre-registered Lucas for $5 thinking it was worth it for a shirt, pumpkin, ribbon, and free ice cream PLUS his first race experience!
I picked him up from daycare on Friday and we went to pick up his "race packet" (aka tshirt and number).
Lucas: where we going mama?
me: to pick up your shirt for your race tomorrow! are you ready to run fast in your race?
Lucas: No......I busy
He carbloaded on some waffles this morning. then I wrestled his race shirt and number on him and talked up the BIG pumpkin he'd get when he finished running. He screamed "noooo" the whole way as we hurried to the park reserve....
We met up with some fellow racers....Hannah was feeling especially confident..
We waited patiently for the "4 and under" group to start...
A boy dressed exactly like Lucas tried to befriend him (no such luck, Lucas ignored him)...
Daddy gave him a pep talk....
And we were off! Hannah and Lucas were off to a slow ("Hold me!") start so Derek jogged with the big kids...
We finally got them both to at least walk...
Lucas was feeling good for about 20 seconds...
Even good enough to RUN for about 10 steps! (sad this one is blurry!)
Then we went through a "carry me!" phase (not pictured...my hands were full) and his mean old mom insisted he run the last 20 yards by himself in order to get his ribbon and pumpkin....
Hold me!!!
The end! Too many tears to even snap a pic of the ribbon and pumpkin! We 'celebrated' with some ice cream and a movie. Derek did not think it was worth the $5.

Fall
Some traditional fall pics from the Maple Grove Arboretum. We've been going there the past few years around my sister Katie's birthday to snap some family pics with the pretty fall colors. We were hoping to have a picnic too but it was WAY too cold.

And the Twin Cities Marathon! This was my 6th time running and my 7th marathon overall. I did about my usual and expected time of 4:35. Derek and Lucas came and saw me at the 18.5 mile mark and I gave them a big sweaty hug and high five. It was the perfect time as I was just about to cave and do some hardcore walking - they motivated me enough to keep it up (even if it was veeeery slow). Then they saw me again right at the 26 mile mark.
I am convinced Derek is the best husband ever too! He missed (but recorded) the Packers game, packed Lucas a lunch, and planned for any type of weather possible (3 different thickness of coats in the car). What a good husband/dad he is!
